The Parallel Architecture Group - GAP - conducts research and evaluation of parallel computer systems with the aim of achieving high-performance communication in interconnection networks and other related architectural techniques for reducing communication latency in multiprocessors, multicomputers, and networks of workstations.

Our aim is to carry out research of the highest quality, educate graduate university students and create the conditions necessary for, the establishment of businesses based on the research we conducts. The group has succeeded in generating a vibrant research culture and is now operating as a highly effective research unit with growing international recognition.

We are focus on the development of routing algorithms, fault-tolerant routing algorithms, development of new conmutation techniques, development of control congestion mechanisms, development of latency reduction techniques, aprofitable of temporal message locality techniques, support and development of deadlock detection techniques, development of multicast routing techniques for cache-coherent multiprocessors, development of network dinamic reconfiguration techniques, development of power consumption techniques for interconnection networks.

The group collaborates with leading research and development groups around the world including groups from prestige institutions such as Universit Mannheim, The Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm), The University of Oslo, Simula Reasearch Laboratory, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Southern California, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Ohio State University, Pennsylvania State University, Michigan State University, Los Alamos National Lab., Princeton University, Keio University (Japan), Oxford Univ, KAIST and others. At the same time, we have been able to create some patents with different leading technology companies including IBM (Zurich) and Xyratex.
