CARLES LUZ DEFENDED HIS THESIS

Carles Luz Hernandez defended, on the 12th of July, his PhD thesis entitled "Addressing Manufacturing Challenges in NoC-based ULSI Designs", which was advised by Professors Federico Silla and Jose Duato. After a brilliant presentation, an intense question time by the committee took place, which lasted over an hour and a half. Then they proceeded to deliberate about it, grading the thesis with the qualification of suitable (maximum qualification). It is worth mentioning that all the committee members mentioned about the high quality of the work.

We wish you a great professional trajectory in his new job in the UPC, Barcelona.

 

Stay in Intel Mobile Munich (Germany)

vIrtical: A new project for G.A.P.

The G.A.P. coordinates the European project vIrtical from 7th Framework Programme, with a duration of three years and starting date July 15, 2011.
The budget is 2,860,000 euros and involves eight partners. Five of the partners
are leading companies in their respective fields of research (ST Microelectronics, Thales, ARM, VOSYS and SYSGO) and three are universities (Technical University of Valencia, University of Bologna and Technological Institute of Crete). The project is coordinated by Maria Engracia Gomez, and involves Prof. José Duato, Prof. Antonio Robles and Dr. Jose Flich all them from GAP.
The aim is to improve performance, quality of service, reliability and consumption of embedded systems that can be found in televisions and mobile phones
, through developing the concept of virtualization in embedded systems environment.

Two of our most cherished postdoc, Blas Cuesta and Alberto Ros have left us to join their new jobs.

Albert has been hired as associate professor at the University of Uppsala (Sweden). Blas has been integrated into the
development research center of Intel Corp. in Barcelona (Spain).


As always we wish you good luck and success in their new stage of life, and we will never forget you.
